Many people are now choosing to buy a plot in the Algarve, to build their own stunning property. There are a great selection of plots available offering breathtaking views and huge development potential. Although hard work, it can be extremely satisfying designing a home from scratch, and every detail can be tuned to your requirements – both inside and out. |
Designing and building a property is ideal for those who have the time to do it. Typically it will take at least 2 years from start to finish, due to waiting for planning permission and licenses at various stages. There are excellent financial gains to be had from doing this, and developers can expect to make 30-40% profit after their costs have been paid. |
Other buyers, who either don’t have the time or inclination to do this, may choose turnkey properties. This involves buying a plot of land based on the drawings of a property and it is handed over to the buyer on completion. Turnkey projects give a number of advantages - the buyer can have some influence on finishes and also the property will be less expensive if bought prior to completion. |
