Meia Praia - Just to the east of the historic port town of Lagos lies the vast expanse of glorious sea shore known as Meia Praia. The beach is truly massive and estends from the Lagos Marina as far as the Alvor estuary.
Well supplied with beach bars and restaurants, this outstandingly beautiful beach also offers a full range of water sports and activities along with equipment fore hire. Nearby are some enchanting smaller beaches such as the luxurious Praia Dona Ana, at the foot of steep cliffs, topped by the Golfino hotel, and the beach of Batata, closest to Lagos town centre (adjacent to the 17th century fortress in front of the walls of the old town).
There are also several more secluded beaches to be found in the vicinity, displaying the wonderfully gnarled, golden rock formations for which the Algarve is famed and offering superb swimming and snorkelling. |
