Buying Property in the Algarve - Your Guide to Algarve Schools

Buying Property in the Algarve – Manorpark Properties

If you are considering relocating to the Algarve with children, there is a lot more to consider than just which property you will buy. Our guide below reviews education in the Algarve, and provides details of three International schools – located in Lagoa, Espiche and Burgau.

There aren’t many students who get to feel the sand between their toes as they study algebra.... But as Terry Payne, Director of the recently opened Eastern Algarve International School at Tavira summarises, ‘our first day of activities took place on the beach. With fantastic teachers and a wonderful learning environment, we intend to make a difference!

Centrally, in Lagoa, John Butterworth, Headmaster of the International School of the Algarve agrees: ‘You get the best of British education in the Algarve and it’s a wonderful place to bring children up - just one of the reasons why we achieve excellent exam results compared with the UK.’

In Burgau’s western region, Headmaster of Vale Verde International School, Roger Foreman nods, ‘Moving to the Algarve has never been easier, with new motorways and an increased number of flights into Faro.’ He adds, ‘Here, education is offered at all levels, class sizes are small and a full range of subjects are available - all in an idyllic setting.’

As more families embrace Portugal, embarking on a new life under the sun, it’s no wonder that international schools are filling up with the cheerful chatter of our multi-national children. For parents considering where to move in the Algarve and the schools available for their children, we offer the following comparative guide - Algarve School Report - east to west:
