Cova Redonda - Cova Redonda beach is found just to the West of Armação de Pêra and is a fine example of the cove beaches for which the Algarve is famed, with its wonderfully sea-gnarled golden cliffs. The beach is small and quite difficult to find, but if you leave Armação on the road towards Porches, (leave Armação passing the Garbe hotel on your left) after about 2 Km you will come to a petrol station where you should take the turn-off to the left, sign posted Crastos. Eventually you will arrive at the top of a long flight of steps descending the cliff face. The beach is at the bottom of them, but it’s well worth it. |

Praia Grande - Not to be confused with Praia Grande Ferragudo, this Praia Grande is situated between Salgados and Armação de Pêra. It is a huge length of beach accessed via about a 1Km walk over the sand dunes. The fact that this beach is quite private and requires some effort to reach, means that it is popular with naturists and it is famed throughout the region for this – residents (amusingly) often refer to it as “Nudie beach”. Nevertheless, nudity is optional and it remains a popular destination for both Portuguese and Foreign families. The swimming here is good, but there is a lack of beach bars, so best bring along a picnic along. |
